Wait, this is an international record? What am I supposed to do with this?: The “How To’s” of International Transfer Credit
Determining international transfer credit is not always a responsibility limited to the international admissions or international student services offices, especially when working with short-term and study abroad programs. Understanding and applying best industry practices is crucial in providing quality assurance and equitability in the transfer credit process.
This session introduces key concepts necessary for determining the amount of transfer credit to award in the U.S. for academic coursework done in another country. Programs and scenarios for consideration of possible transfer credit include short-term university programs, incomplete university programs, and study abroad. Participants are presented with authentic records and real-life scenarios to make appropriate recommendations, utilizing records from selected top-sending countries. This session presents best practices on how to approach programs with credits, hours, or those with no indicator of course load.
