How Predictive Analytics Brought a Leadership Team Together
Description
Business intelligence, data analytics, & big data have been hot topics in industry for years and now they are a focus in higher education. With the utilization of predictive analytic tools, data mining, social medial, and geo fencing , Lone Star College identify segmented student populations and develop specific cutting-edge strategies to assist students. These strategies were possible with the establishment of a cross-functional Data Team and the use of the DIAL method (primarily used by the software industry) allows the College to be agile with responding to students’ needs. More so, it gives the College the ability to be predictive and prescriptive with the devilry of services. The idea to “act” with data was to keep the strategies simple and to respond quickly. The methodology is built around best practices, a preference for simple and straightforward processes, and what is most likely to be effective.
