Come One, Come All: Creating a Friends and Family Orientation Program at a Community College
Description
Creating sessions or programming for the support system of community college students is very important for recruitment, retention, and completion. York Technical College recently added family and friends programming to its Orientation program, along with building a follow up communication plan for parents and families utilizing its CRM. This session will highlight the process the team followed, outlines of the session, and initial outcomes and feedback from attendees. The team will also highlight research from AACRAO's recent publication Recruiting and Retaining Diverse Populations, where York Tech's AVP of Enrollment Services/Chief Enrollment Officer served as a contributing author for text underscoring parent and family involvement. You will walk away from this session with theory and practice!
