Unlocking Data in Unlikely Places: Optimizing Admissions and Beyond

The National Student Clearinghouse and AstrumU partnership optimizes the admissions process. A novel machine learning approach transcends OCR reliance, enabling direct transcript data ingestion into student information systems with little or no configuration. Our solution offers three benefits: increased speed to admission; automation to alleviate resource constraints, and greater transparency for students.

First Learning Outcome: Understand the scale and depth of challenges facing institutions as a result of legacy systems and processes resulting from PDF transcript processing.

Second Learning Outcome: Visualize the “receiver-side” solution focused on delivering easily ingested data files alongside typical PDF transcript delivery via machine learning.

Third Learning Outcome: Comprehend the value proposition of the solution for sending schools, receiving schools and learners.
