Previous to the pandemic, community college student participation in study abroad had been increasing as initiatives expanded. These institutions are currently re-evaluating their program portfolios and their methods of reaching students in light of recent changes. This session will explore how global learning is being repositioned at community colleges and how it continues to have relevancy. Implications for course enrollment and credit processing based on program models that continue to be supported will also be examined. The presenter is a seasoned study abroad professional, with experience at two-year and four-year institutions as well as a large study abroad organization. The presenter's current role at a community college, with connections to a network of campuses, will allow for a thorough knowledge-based and practically-informed examination of the challenges and opportunities faced by this unique and important institutional type. The presenter will function as a facilitator. Although many of the concepts explored will be universal and transferable, thus making the session appealing to attendees from a variety of institutional types, community college representatives are especially encouraged to participate. The session will be structured as a give-and-take between presenter and attendees, allowing for systems and issues to be offered as examples and then experiences to be shared, to engage the group and facilitate idea-sharing. Resources specific to community colleges and international education will be referenced so that learning may continue beyond the conference. It is important for sessions focused on community colleges to be included in the conference programs, as expressed by the membership to the chair of the AACRAO study abroad committee.
