Pacific Islanders make up a vibrant part of the immigration landscape in many countries, including the US, though very little attention is paid to the educational systems in their home countries. Distance between islands and colonial and missionary influences have had a significant impact on education in this region. There are similarities and common challenges among the systems, but also variations from one country to another. Join us as we explore the region with a focus on educational systems, how the countries collaborate, various educational pathways, and more. The session will include educational ladders, recognition resources, and document samples from a selection of countries including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.
