How Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus’ Yield Strategy Prepared Them For Enrollment in the Wake of COVID-19
Category
Session
Description
While colleges and universities across the country scrambled to adapt to social distancing, campus closures and
shelter- in- place ordinances, Kansas State University Polytechnic’s admissions department discovered it was
already in a strong position to maintain continuity of business. Through strong preparatory efforts by its executive director of enrollment management, Dr. Christopher Smith, KSUPC was ready to quickly and efficiently evolve as the COVID- 19 pandemic hit.
In this session, Dr. Smith will share his approach to increasing yield, and the resources and practices that have
helped him accomplish his enrollment goals in good times and in bad. He will discuss how he revitalized new
student enrollment at KSUPC through his three- pillar strategy of “Rebuild, Grow and Transform.”
Dr. Smith will detail its strategies and goals regarding cultivation, conversion, yield and melt. He will also explain
how his highly personalized approach to communicating with unique groups of students focused on their individual needs and motivations, particularly through the use of variable print strategies. While no one could have anticipated the challenges a global pandemic like COVID- 19 would introduce, Dr. Smith’s preparation and modernization helped give KSUPC the flexibility and agility to respond to the crisis and continue supporting and nurturing prospective students.
