Description
With the recent CPVID-19 pandemic, institutions have been scrambling to keep their constituents informed. Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) developed several methods of keeping their students informed. OTC is a community college in southwest Missouri with over 10,000 students during the spring 2020 semester and over 4,00 students during the summer semester. During the spring 2020 semester, OTC closed for 2 weeks and then pivoted all offerings online. For the summer 2020 semester, we experienced an increase in our enrollment of over 10% compared to the summer of 2019. All of our courses offerings for the summer term was offered online.
During this pandemic, we utilized a variety of methods to keep in touch with our current and prospective students:
--Email communications and texts
++Keeping students informed of what OTC was doing
++Informing students of policy changes due to COVID-19
++Informing students of CARE Act opportunities available to them
++Announcing scholarships and incentives created by OTC for students attending the fall semester
--Developing web resources
++Creation of a support page geared to students finding their answers in one place
++Re-vitalization of a LiveChat program utilizing PHPLive software
++Devloped and implemented AcuitySoftware to allow only calendaring functions with various
Departments on-campus
++Website listing all press releases related to COVID-19 issues
--Facebook Live sessions
++Admissions Q&A Sessions
++Zoom Tours of campus
++Career Services advice for seeking employment during the pandemic
--phone campaigns
++To check on our current students to see how they were handling the online environment
++To connect students to resources available at OTC to assist in the transition
++Called applicants who have not registered for the fall 2020 semester
In this session, we will examine resources that were developed to address the various needs of our students and prospective students. Attendees will see the inner workings of how the communication needs or support was identified and how the different communications or support were developed and delivered to our students.
