Joseph Wolk
Registrar at Bridgewater State University
Nominations and Elections Committee Position Statement
Over the course of my 12+ year career I have been fortunate to work at four very different institutions, A four-year private, An online for-profit, A community college, and now the flagship of the MA state university system, Bridgewater State University. Each has prepared me uniquely to understand the challenges and opportunities each institution type faces and more importantly allows me to bring a very well rounded, global perspective to any project or initiative undertaken. In my role as Registrar at Bridgewater State University I take pride in promoting the growth and development of my team and empower them to lead. On a local level my leadership has been recognized, as I was nominated by my Provost for and partcipated in the 2019 AASCU Emerging Leaders Program in Washington, DC this summer, where I was part of a 27 person cohort of higher education leaders from state universities across the country. I have also been fortunate to present at the NEACRAO regional conference on two seperate occassions and was selected as of one of three "Best of the Best" presentations highlighted at the 2019 AACRAO Annual Meeting. This year also highlights my first publication set to come out in the August College & University issue in which I offer advice to newer Registrars as a fairly new leader myself (Three Years and Counting: Lessons from a Newbie to a Newbie. It's from these experiences that I understand and appreciate the value we all bring to a volunteer organization like NEACRAO & AACRAO. I also understand these organizations are only as strong as the members who get involved to make a difference and that is why I am interested in serving in this position.
We have the opportunity through this role to encourage active involvement, ensure our member's voices are heard and most importantly, show first-hand the power of collaboration to affect change and continue to drive our profession forward. If afforded this opportunity, I see it not just as an appointment for a two year period, but the beginning of a long relationship with AACRAO, a committment to its membership, and an opportunity to help empower and shape the leaders of tomorrow.
Thank you for your consideration,
Joseph Wolk
