Nominations and Elections Committee Position Statement
AACRAO has, for the last 10+ years, been a large part of my professonal life. I've been lucky enough to engage in numerous oraganizational activities and leadership positions. AACRAO has made me a stronger enrollment management professional, a better friend and colleague to the numerous members I have met though my involvement, and helped me mature and grow as an individual.
And, while I have given back in the form of time and knowledge, membership on the N&E committee affords me the chance to give back something more - a strong future for the organization. Choosing potential leaders is a multi-facitied enedavor, one which requires a diverse, engaged, knowledge committee. I feel that my experiences have qualfiied me for such a committee.
Part of N&E's future goals, in my opinion, is to engage more of the organization in the election process. That starts with education - sharing information about what the board (and each position on the board) does. Then, it moves on to networking and marketing - getting nominations for positions. Finally, it's about engagement - getting people to vote, to understand why voting is important, to make it easy to vote, etc. I look forward to working on these goals, if elected.
