Nominations and Elections Committee Position Statement
Greetings fellow AACRAO members!
I am grateful and excited to be nominated to be a member of the Nominations and Elections Committee this year. The responsibility to establish a slate of nominees for our Board of Directors is an important one. It’s the duty of the N&E committee to ensure that all members feel represented on the board. Our organization is diverse: diverse in profession, knowledge and skills, institution type, and all manner of demographics, making the charge of N&E a daunting but exciting one.
Our professions are also changing. Approximately 40% of admissions officers, registrars, and chief enrollment management officers intend to either retire or change positions within the next three years. So our leadership also needs to represent diversity in professional experience level and dedication to preparing new leaders in our professions. For new members of a complex, established organization like AACRAO, it can be easy to feel like an outsider and intimidating to figure out what opportunities are available and who can help. I hope by joining the N&E committee I can play a small role in selecting a slate of board members who share my concern for engaging all members.
