Elite Education in France: The Case of the Grandes Écoles
Category
Session
Description
The Grandes Écoles represent an elite system of higher education in France, with a rigorous preparatory and entrance examination cycle. However, not all Grandes Écoles are created equal. This session will expose the complexities of this system, from grading to misleading credential terminology and determining which institutions are genuinely elite. Presenters will highlight findings from a series of visits in France, which led to a white paper from AACRAO’s International Education Standards Council.
