Category
Session
Description
Timely college degree completion is critical for both individuals and societal economic success. However, with rising college costs and student loan debt, many students struggle to fund and complete their degree, which has led higher education institutions to explore innovative approaches to fund student success. Featuring perspectives from a national foundation and higher education leaders, this session will introduce the income share agreement (ISA) model and discuss the unique approaches being used by two large public universities - the University of Utah and Purdue University - to fund college access and attainment.
Specifically, learn how the University of Utah is using impact capital to design, develop, and implement - Invest in U - a student-friendly, completion-focused, ISA program to fill funding gaps and help more students complete college degrees. The session will cover the basics of the ISA model, specific to enrollment management, financial aid, data management, raising and structuring a fund, legal considerations, etc. Presenters will share the essential elements and challenges to developing and implementing an ISA program, as well as inform how ISAs can be utilized to advance institutional strategic goals and student outcomes.
