Description
The Georgia Institute of Technology is in the process of modernizing its academic scheduling and management of curricular change processing using CourseLeaf products. The home-grown systems now in use are being converted to CourseLeaf CIM and CLSS products. The CourseLeaf CAT module was implemented three years ago.The business processes associated with these functions are being examined and improved as the implementations move forward. We are planning to enhance these products with some local adaptions to improve the end-user experience.
In this presentation, we will describe how our home-grown solution for curricular change management operates and our motivation for seeking another option. In doing so, we will describe our business process on campus for how new courses, new degree programs, minors, certificates, and so on are approved through the School/College level to the University System of Georgia and how we track the approvals as the proposals move through the various steps and are finally added to the Catalog.
We will also describe how we plan to utilize the CLSS CourseLeaf module to improve the scheduling of courses for each semester and how our business processes operate under a de-centralized model. CLSS is our newest aquisition and will be the last of the modules to be implemented. We will describe what improvements we expect to realize with this implementation.
We will also discuss our decision making process for how we decided to approach these three functions, catalog, curriculum, and class scheduling.
