Description
The University of Iowa has given commencement a new look and feel, slowly evolving each aspect of the ceremony to serve graduates and guests with a modern feel. The Commencement Team was formed with four members and a supervisor. Within 5 years, our team has been able to clearly communicate with guests and provide more information via a newly designed website and smart phone app; utilize scoreboards and ribbon boards to more effectively prepare guests for the ceremony; show a universal video across 14 ceremonies and 3 venues; create mass messaging via the Dispatch email system; utilize campus digital signage and departmental social media; adjust the application to provide more clarity; digitize early and late participation forms; revamp the commencement program while reducing waste and opening a public ordering portal; and form partnerships with stakeholders across campus- all while putting forth a message of sustainability and commitment to student success.
