Description
Are you interested in learning more about exchanging EDI/XML transcript data with other colleges and universities? Have you wanted to start an electronic data exchange but didn’t know where to begin? If so, then this session is for you!
Electronic data exchange (EDX) standards have existed for over three decades and offer many benefits for institutions of higher education. In 2018, after years of discussions, a group of registrar and admissions staff from the University of Colorado Boulder and other Colorado schools decided to launch a grassroots initiative to implement EDX transcripts at every Colorado institution that wanted it.
With the support of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Colorado EDX implementation committee held its first official meeting in late 2018 and soon launched a pilot program. The goal is for participating two-year institutions to be able to successfully send EDI/XML transcript data by January 2020, and for participating four-year institutions to be able to consume it. If the pilot is successful, the committee plans to expand its scope to institutions both inside and outside of Colorado.
At this session, representatives from the Colorado EDX implementation committee will discuss how they approached this project and the lessons they’ve learned so far, including how to build grassroots support without a state mandate, use education to allay anxieties and find vendor-agnostic EDX solutions.
