Description
Office of the University Registrar launched Project Stella in 2015 to begin exploring the use data in day to day operation. Four years later, the Office transformed from being known as bureaucratic to delivering user-centric innovative solutions. The presentation will begin with how we got started and the challenges that we overcame. Next the presentation will discuss building the technical infrastructure which includes hardware, software, and human resources. Then, the presenter will share production level and experimental projects involving machine learning, Amazon Alexa, augmented reality, hyper-personalizing contents and communication, and developing smart web-based applications. The outcome of our initiative led to over 80% of transactions being performed through automation; creating an agile infrastructure that allows us to rapidly deploy data-centric projects; added value to academic advising by centralizing common functions; and seamlessly integrate with third-party services.
