Description
This past year our institution went through a major organizational change and implemented a new admissions CRM at the same time. While not all changes were smooth, and at times it felt chaotic, we were able to make significant improvements in a very short time. Reflecting on the year, we are proud of the changes we have made in regards to the recruitment and yield of transfer students. Prior to the reorganization and implementation of Slate, our new CRM, academic programs had a large amount of control over the admission process. Transfer advisors generally worked to confirm general admission requirements, but often deferred to programs for admission decisions. Throughout the past year, we have worked to integrate members of our transfer admission team within academic program offices, to encourage more holistic and equitable admission practices across the university. We have encouraged programs to develop more standard criteria to encourage more decision-making within the admission office to help manage enrollment. To keep academic programs informed, we have integrated admissions committee members into our new CRM, to encourage collaboration with data and review of applicants. Academic programs and faculty can review students instantaneously, instead of transferring paper files between offices. After only one year, several programs have seen the advantages of using the CRM; they are working to improve the experiences for current students applying to their majors by implementing the technology for internal students!
