Career Wisdom from the Golden Girls
Employees typically accept a new position with ultimate aspirations to move up to management. Faculty have specified guidelines to earn promotion and tenure, but staff must navigate the upward progression without a compass to guide them, potentially with disastrous and frustrating results. All is not lost, however! Our names are not Blanche or Rose, but with a combined 80 years of higher education experience, we “Golden Girls” will impart what we have learned as we have moved up, down, and sideways on the ladder, will share nuggets of wisdom to use in building your resume and gaining confidence in your abilities, and will alert you to navigating potholes or detours on your career path.
