Audit Your Institutional Billing: Finding $2M in the Couch Cushions

When is the last time you checked to see if you're collecting all the tuition and fees you think you are? If you're like me, you probably think that's someone else's responsibility, and maybe it is. However, what would you do if you found out that the billing isn't right, and that it hasn't been right on as many as 25% of the new students entering the institution for the last 6 years consecutively? That's what this midwestern university found, and this session will talk about what we had to do to fix the problem.

Committee Group: Group I: Admissions and Enrollment Management

First Learning Outcome: Making sure that NTR is properly collected mitigates the need for more headcount.

Second Learning Outcome: Establishing proper controls to ensure the most important resource is handled correctly.

Third Learning Outcome: Strategizing a solution to a catastrophe that doesn't present another retention risk.

Core Competency: Holistic and Systemic Thinking

Proficiency: Enrollment Management Proficiencies

Presenter(s):

Steve McKellips Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
