Addressing Student Needs As a SEM Strategy
Since 2022, Saddleback College has scaled its Student Needs Survey; sending the instrument to all enrolled credit students each term. The purpose is to remove barriers for students who are in need through a direct triage process - all within 24-48 hours. Over 14%, slightly more than 3,000, students respond each term. Using Propensity Score Matching & Weighting, the models showed a strong effect for fall to spring persistence, term GPA and course success; making it a successful community college SEM strategy.
