Nominations and Elections Committee Position Statement
Dear Colleagues,
I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to join AACRAO's Nominations and Elections Committee. I hope to serve our distinguished and diverse professionals, who serve the future generations of America. As a State and Regional Officer, including as President of NJ-NY ACRAO for 2016-17, and the immediate Past President and Chair of NJ-NY ACRAO Nominations & Elections committee for 2017-18, I understand the importance of the nominations and elections process. Utilizing these experiences, I hope to be a productive member of the Nominations and Elections committee in safeguarding the integrity of the election process and assist in choosing the next generation of AACRAO's leaders.
I have been blessed to serve our students as an Academic Librarian and Instructor with CUNY, Assistant Registrar and Veteran’s Certifying Officer at Molloy College, the Associate Registrar at Pratt Institute, and presently as the Assistant Director (Deputy Registrar) at Nassau Community College SUNY. It has been an enriching experience to work as an AACRAO Author in AACRAO's College and University, Guide to Graduation Ceremonies, and Mentorship in Higher Education. I am a member of AACRAO's Academic Progress Committee, and the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus. I have met so many dedicated and talented professionals during this time, and was delighted to work and greet many new members at AACRAO’s first-timer booth in Orlando. I am very appreciative to be an awardee of the 2018 AACRAO Emerging Leader Award. My appreciation for the confidence and trust you have placed in me as a future AACRAO leader cannot be put into words. I am extremely grateful.
You are the educators that will enrich our future leaders, thereby guiding and shaping our world, and you have enriched my experience with your commitment to serve. At Pratt, our motto is "Be true to your work, and your work will be true to you". I plan to carry this motto to help continue and enhance the great work AACRAO has done. We serve so that we provide the necessary training, tools, and advocacy that you need, to continue to serve our ever-evolving multi-cultural students that strive to advance themselves in a challenging world. I thank you for this opportunity and I plan to work hard on your behalf to represent you.
Yours sincerely,
Rajeev Jayadeva
