Central Asia Update: Uzbekistan
Recent education reforms have impacted higher education in Uzbekistan, resulting in a current landscape that includes opening higher education up to international partners, as well as scholarships for students to study abroad. In the past year alone, the number of incoming international students from Uzbekistan has doubled. This session provides guidance for admissions officers working with students from Uzbekistan, or those institutions looking for a new and untapped market.
First Learning Outcome: Learn about recent political reforms aimed at internationalizing the educational system and opening society to educational exchange.
Second Learning Outcome: Analize Usbek academic documentation with a focus on academic preparation and determining capacity to succeed at higher academic levels, while recognizing unique aspects of documents resulting from historical and political influences.
Third Learning Outcome: Understand the influence of the Soviet pattern of education juxtaposed with modern influence from the West and the East
