Bridging Retention Gaps and Expanding Recruitment: Findings from a Longitudinal Study
In 2024, the Student Success team at The George Washington University launched a new initiative called Jump Start. Although initially inspired by a retention study on DFW grades, which is the focus of this research proposal, the program also shows great promise as a recruitment tool. A school counselor remarked, "I have four prospective students interested in this program. They come from under-resourced high schools and lower-income backgrounds, so they would greatly benefit from Jump Start." This initiative adds another powerful tool to GW's recruitment efforts.
