Game On: Does a Winning Season Boost your School’s Appeal?
This session uses institutional longitudinal funnel data from prospects to enrollees combined with NCAA data on college football and men’s basketball to explore the effects of athletic seasons on student propensity to apply to and enroll at a certain institution. Given the timing difference between sports seasons and admissions cycles, a time-lag analysis is conducted to determine whether a team’s success during prospective students’ sophomore or junior years of high school provides a boost in subsequent enrollment cycles.
