This new book is just the latest in a 20-year history of publications alleging and decrying SEM’s adverse effects on higher education’s goals for access and opportunity. But this book focuses in large part on the EM “industry”. After a career as senior EM officer and SEM pioneer, the presenter now consults in this industry. In this session, he puts its criticisms, assumptions and arguments into perspective and context, with recommendations in response to its challenges to the profession.
