Building Sustainable Models and Inclusive Practices to Enroll Refugee and Displaced Students
Today, as we witness historic levels of global displacement, only 7% of refugee students can access higher education worldwide. Join us as we discuss the barriers displaced students face in higher education and present innovative pathways, practices, and partnerships implemented at U.S. institutions to enroll refugee students, including Welcome Corps on Campus, the U.S. government’s new private sponsorship program under the United States Refugee Admissions Program.
First Learning Outcome: Demonstrate the unique barriers that refugees face in the application and immigration process from abroad and the barriers faced by displaced students, as well as the unique assets refugee students bring to campuses.
Second Learning Outcome: Define the legal pathways, F-1 visa and new/upcoming P4 refugee admissions category, that refugee students can use to access the US higher education.
Third Learning Outcome: Describe and share effective practices to support refugee and other displaced students in accessing immigration and educational pathways.
